HAPPY NEW YOU!

Is 2014 REALLY “NEW”?

In 2014, 60 seconds still make a minute, 60 minutes still make an hour, 24 hours still make a day, 7 days still make a week, 4 weeks still make a month, 12 months still make a year…just like 2013!!!  So, where lies the “newness”?

The “newness” of 2014 does not lie in the year, it lies in YOU!

2014 can only be different for you, if you choose to do things in a NEW way.

If you drop time wasters from your life and delete/block destiny killers from your friend list/contact.

If you put your all into the pursuit of your dream and shut all ‘escape routes’ behind you.

If you let go of ephemeral leisures and deny your flesh the ‘luxury’ of distractions. If you build a reputation of honour and integrity.

If you dwell in the Secret Place Of The Most High far above principalities and household wickedness, then can 2014 be truly NEW for you.

So, instead of wishing you a “happy new year, I wish you a HAPPY NEW YOU!

Woman Thou Art Loosed Pt. 1

The Woman is a unique creation of God for the awesome purpose of being helper; it’s awesome because they have in them a unique attribute of the Holy Spirit as shown In John 14 verse 16, where Jesus made this profound statement about the Holy Spirit.

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby) This same word ‘helper’ was used for the Woman in Genesis 2 vs.18, God said, it’s not good for the Man to be alone, I’ll make him a helper, a companion”.

Everything created by God has a specific purpose attached to it.  For example, He created the Sun to rule by day and the Moon by night. Likewise the Woman was ordained, conditioned, appointed, consecrated, constituted, and enacted to be a helper in God’s Agenda. In Exodus 4:24-26, we see a woman fulfilling this purpose. God called Moses, (one of the greatest prophet who ever lived) and gave him an assignment; on his way to his place of assignment, the same God wanted to kill him but the Bible recorded that his wife Zipporah- a woman rose to fulfill her God given mandate and saved her husband from untimely death.

A Woman is helper, comforter, companion, strengthener to mankind, everyman’s existence on earth starts with them (even our Savior, Jesus Christ’ existence on earth was as a result of The Holy Spirit implant in the woman) God’s plan on earth can be greatly hindered and humanity suffers as a result if and when this ‘helper’ is seriously handicapped, twisted, bent over that she can’t look up, and unable to strengthen herself.

The story of a woman was recorded in Luke 13:10-16 and this story illustrates our theme adequately.

He was teaching in one of the meeting places on the Sabbath.

There was a woman present, so twisted and bent over with arthritis that she couldn’t even look up.

She had been afflicted with this for eighteen years.

When Jesus saw her, he called her over, “Woman, you’re free!

He laid hands on her and suddenly she was standing straight and tall, giving glory (praising God, praised and thanked God, glorified God). TM.

I will attempt to bring out some nuggets from the above verses.

1. Calling her over to Jesus!

Jesus has called every woman to freedom- freedom from oppression, cultural discrimination and segregation which twists and bends our self esteem to the point of shame and ridicule. Women are abused, left at the altar, ostracized and stigmatized as the weaker vessel by society and religion as well.

But Jesus has redeemed us from the curse in Genesis 3 which makes men the master and women the slaves. Christ has clothed us with honor and dignity and we can raise our heads for the Sun of Righteousness has shone on us. He paid the price for our freedom and delivered us from the curse of slavery that our encounter with Satan in Genesis 3 subjected us to.

Only in Christ Jesus, do we have true and absolutely freedom. Woman liberation movement offers freedom but it only partial.

John 10 vs. 10…. I am the Gate.

Anyone who goes through me will be cared for-will freely go in and out, and will find pasture. ……… I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.

Real life is in Christ Jesus, no other religion offers lasting solution without a price tag or negative self effects. Jesus calls you today, to believe in Him, trust Him, depend on him, for your background does not mean your back should be on the ground. Our Saviour is loving and kind, He will never consult your past to fashion your future. All His blessings are yours for free if you only believe in Him. He calls out to you in Matthew 11 vs. 28 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?

Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.

I’ll show you how to take a real rest.

Walk with me and work with me-watch how I do it.

Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.

I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.

Keep Company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly”.

Where Is Your Faith?

“As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke him, saying, ‘Master, Master, we’re going to drown!’ He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. ‘Where is your faith?’ he asked his disciples.”  (Luke 8:23-25)

We often read of Jesus calming the storm with an emphasis on what we presume to be the disciples’ small faith or lack of faith.  But recently while recalling the story, I placed the emphasis on Jesus’ first word in the question: “Where is your faith?”

The disciples were accomplished fishermen. Although storms frequently exploded on the lake, their experience could easily have given them the confidence that sailing safely to the other side was a “no brainer.” Maybe they were counting on the simple presence of Jesus to keep them safe. Was it possible that in their haste to leave they simply didn’t carefully and correctly raise the sails? What had they placed their faith in?

If Jesus asked us, “Where is your faith?” how would we answer? Do we depend on past experience to navigate difficulties? Perhaps we simply assume that because Jesus is “in the boat” with us, all will be well. Have we neglected to develop the disciplines of solitude, silence, deep study of the Word of God and honest prayer that help us more intimately know God and thus more quickly trust Him?

Storms will come. Perhaps it is before the storms that we should inventory not just how great is our faith but where it is placed.

Question: Do you find it easy to go to God when storms are raging in your life? Why or why not?

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, Teach me the discipline of drawing near to You so that I’ll be ready when the storms come.  I want my faith to be in You, not in my own experience, my resources or my connections. When my boat is shaken may I run to You first and foremost and not try to calm the seas on my own. Amen

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS #7DG DAY 4 COZA KWARA

PROGRAMME: SEVEN DAYS OF GLORY-DAY FOUR

MESSAGE TITLE:  COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

TEXT:   PSALM 103

Praise is a mystery! When you have fasted and the situation seems to remain the same, then you know it is time to switch to the weapon of thanksgiving!

People say those who do things that count don’t stop to count them. This is not true. God not only allows us to count, but also to number our blessings. Spare me your glory if you won’ttell to me your story! You should be able to recount the things God has done in your life; how He has brought you from trash to treasure.

Psalm 113:7 He raises the poor out of the dust, And lifts the needy out of the ash heap, 8 That He may seat him with princes— With the princes of His people.

There are two sets of people you find at the top: the “princes” and the “raised”!They can be differentiated by the manner in which they praise God. The “princes” praise God like they are doing Him a favour while the “raised” thank God without reservations! They give Him a“CRAZY” kind of praise!

The “raised” recognize that ingrates are inmates, imprisoned by their ingratitude. If you ever visit a prison then you would realize that freedom is a gift.

Thoughtful people are you thankful people. If you are thankful, your tank will be full!

NOTE:

The reason God cannot promote some people is because they cannot handle the blessing as the blessing will take them away from God. Success is more difficult to manage than failure. Don’t tell me you’re humble until certain things are in your life like power!

Thanksgiving is a multiplier. It is my secret! Praise God today in a crazy way! When you cannot trace God (when you cannot comprehend what is going on) praise Him! With few prayer points but plenty of praise. In your office, at your home, remember what God has done and praise Him longer than the number of praise reports that come to mind. Just keep thanking Him!

David was a man given to praise. He is the only man in the Old Testament that operated as a King, a Priest and a Prophet. In Psalm 22, he described the Crucifixion, Psalm 23 Jesus’ death (valley of the shadow of death) and Psalm 24 His resurrection (lift up your head O ye gates).Recently, Israel celebrated 3000 years of David’s conquest of Jerusalem. A man died 3000 years ago and he still speaks! His tomb is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Holy City. In contrast, the hill upon which Saul died has a barren summit, the only bare hilltop in Jerusalem.

However, David was not perfect. 2 Sam 11:11 describes a true Jew, a good man- the soldier Uriah whom David killed to cover up his sins. God sent a prophet to David and he repented. The amazing part is that God actually forgave him! I call this the impartial partiality of God.

May God be partial to you!

David was distinguished because he understood the weapon of thanksgiving! When the Ark was returned to Israel, David stopped at every 18 feet to sacrifice to God, recounting every victory that God had given him.

While David danced to God Michal criticized him. In this same manner, there are people in the house of God who are supervisors;while others are praising and dancing they are busy criticizing.

It is possible that we could be age mates but not “grace mates”! I made up my mind that my mates would be rare, my type would be scarce. When I die, I will not die as a woman, I will die as an institution. It is the same with my praise- you cannot out-praise me! It doesn’t matter what you are going though, sing to God. Celebrate the same way you would when the breakthrough comes.

There are people who are not happy that you are happy. If only you can see that a lot of battles take place between the gate of your house and your place of work!Praise Him today like you have never done before.

Birthday: Celebrating God’s Amazing Grace at 50!

It was almost 4pm, Funke was caught in traffic! And she still has a lot to do before church service starts, a lot of people do not know the lady that ensures that all was set, but they always meet the church premises clean, the whole place well swept, the chairs dusted , the flowers well arranged… Today was not going to be an exception; Funke always ensures she finishes on time before service starts…and that nobody sees her because she believes her services are unto GOD and not unto men.

Finally she got to church and luck was on her side, she finished cleaning up before any church member was in view. Thank God for the clouds, it looked like it was going to rain; a lot of church folks came in late because of the rain.
Bro.Felix was the Sunday school superintendent of the church and since he started teaching the word, the Lord has really blessed him and now he thinks he is ready to get the blessing of proverb 18v 22. He has been thinking of sis. Funke for a while now, looking at her you would know she is a virtuous woman, she loves God and the things of God, she has worked in different departments of the church and looking at her , he knew she was the one… but he has not told God about it to get the final approval.

And there she was, smiling…he was surprised…their eyes met and she smiled…Praise God! For the first time, sis. Funke smiled at him today…he has to share this testimony…he thought to himself…for a while now, he has been thinking if he has offended sis. Funke, she has never smiled at him, he wonders why….
The service started with praise and worship… then the pastor called out for anyone that wants to share their testimony, Bro. Felix just couldn’t help it, he raised up his hand and shared with Gods people the miracle of the day…’how sis. Funke smiled…” when he came out, he explained to the church that even though it doesn’t look like a big deal to them, he want to thank God that sis. Funke smiled… while sharing this on the altar, At the second row, of the left side of the church where sis. Funke sat, she was embarrassed, she felt something in her heart and her heart skipped a beat…she does not want to believe she liked Bro. Felix, even at that…he must not know…as she thought to herself…and frowned…

The church service ended, it was an awesome service…sis. Funke was sooo excited and there he was Bro. Felix coming along her way…she quickly took a detour to the pastor’s office to help with the ushers that was counting the offering of the day….
She had always have the flair for the things of God, her mum can’t comprehend why, her dad has always been supportive as usual… but in all her fantasies and dreams, she never wished to marry a pastor, it never crossed her mind or ever thought it could happen…

That was how it started….
On her first trip to Akure, sis. Funke just woke up from sleep after a tiring day and she heard a knock on her door, it was his fiancé, Bro.Felix…the weather was a perfect one to sit outside with the fresh air blowing…so they sat outside under the shade as they began to discuss their future together…and then he asked her, ‘what kind of a house would you like to have’? And she was quick to respond the way she has always wanted it….’ Just me and my husband….no disturbance, if anybody wants to come for visit, they have to book an appointment and get permission as well…she was sooo carried away with her fantasy, that she did not notice the bewildered look on his face, he was surprised but he decided to let her finish her wishful thinking…and when she was through, he told her about their future home… what it would look like, how he was going to plant flowers and most especially the fact that it would be a nest for other people to rest. Funke just couldn’t believe her ears, is this what she would be signing in for? She thought to herself….she has always been a private person….so she just smiled….hoping that his own dream won’t come to reality…. It is not that Funke does not want to help people; she just doesn’t see herself as a ‘people person’

Despite her reservations and their differences, they got married and due to the church doctrine where they worship, Funke was not allowed to wear the wedding gown that she ordered from England because the pastor told her that “souls were perishing”. She had to wear a cocoa sack gown with a pneumonia scarf and she didn’t wear any make up…this was not her dream wedding… (She cried silently) the only consolation was the handsome man that was walking down the aisle with her…

She wonders If he couldn’t see how ugly she looks, and how bare her face was…but anytime she looks into those wonderful eyes, it was full with admiration and love, she got lost in them as it washed all her fears and her worries of how ugly she looks away…. Getting married to the most God fearing and handsome man on earth was the best thing that has ever happened to her…

Few months after the wedding, reality dawned on Funke; it was more or less like what Job said in the bible, that ‘what he feared most has befallen him… ‘ The first shocker was the fact that Bro.Felix did not outgrow the kind of friends he had before they got married…and even God will understands her reservation about these friends… chei! As she sat down thinking about it, hahan, can’t Felix just look for his kind or level and make friends with them, what is he doing with mechanics and the rest of them like that for crying out loud! Even if you are described as down to earth, you don’t have to go all the way down before people know that you are a meek person. No matter how much she wished things would get better it only got worse as Bro. Felix enjoys associating with different kinds of people. Both the low and the high, and he relates with them on the same level. He was truly a good and godly man…

She can never forget the day one of his friends came visiting, this one especially was not her favorite at all…aside the fact that he has a bad dentition, he likes coming especially when he knows she has prepared her husband’s meal. She can’t even imagine them eating from the same plate not to talk of the same spoon…and to think she was still going to kiss her husband…kia! No it will never happen!

But on this fateful day, luck was not on her side because as she finished serving her husband, she heard this friend knocking and calling her husband’s name, trust Funke, she hurriedly took the food inside the room and told her husband that she would not allow that dirty friend of his to eat from her sweat, he was the only one that was going to enjoy the meal…, smiling to herself for successfully preventing her husband’s friend from eating, her joy was cut short after some few minutes when she heard her husband screaming her name from the sitting room , beckoning her to bring the food. Arrrgggggghhhh, that was when she realized that she either accept this man the way he is and try n love his friends and accommodate them as best as she could…
