The Woman is a unique creation of God for the awesome purpose of being helper; it’s awesome because they have in them a unique attribute of the Holy Spirit as shown In John 14 verse 16, where Jesus made this profound statement about the Holy Spirit.
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby) This same word ‘helper’ was used for the Woman in Genesis 2 vs.18, God said, it’s not good for the Man to be alone, I’ll make him a helper, a companion”.
Everything created by God has a specific purpose attached to it. For example, He created the Sun to rule by day and the Moon by night. Likewise the Woman was ordained, conditioned, appointed, consecrated, constituted, and enacted to be a helper in God’s Agenda. In Exodus 4:24-26, we see a woman fulfilling this purpose. God called Moses, (one of the greatest prophet who ever lived) and gave him an assignment; on his way to his place of assignment, the same God wanted to kill him but the Bible recorded that his wife Zipporah- a woman rose to fulfill her God given mandate and saved her husband from untimely death.
A Woman is helper, comforter, companion, strengthener to mankind, everyman’s existence on earth starts with them (even our Savior, Jesus Christ’ existence on earth was as a result of The Holy Spirit implant in the woman) God’s plan on earth can be greatly hindered and humanity suffers as a result if and when this ‘helper’ is seriously handicapped, twisted, bent over that she can’t look up, and unable to strengthen herself.
The story of a woman was recorded in Luke 13:10-16 and this story illustrates our theme adequately.
He was teaching in one of the meeting places on the Sabbath.
There was a woman present, so twisted and bent over with arthritis that she couldn’t even look up.
She had been afflicted with this for eighteen years.
When Jesus saw her, he called her over, “Woman, you’re free!
He laid hands on her and suddenly she was standing straight and tall, giving glory (praising God, praised and thanked God, glorified God). TM.
I will attempt to bring out some nuggets from the above verses.
1. Calling her over to Jesus!
Jesus has called every woman to freedom- freedom from oppression, cultural discrimination and segregation which twists and bends our self esteem to the point of shame and ridicule. Women are abused, left at the altar, ostracized and stigmatized as the weaker vessel by society and religion as well.
But Jesus has redeemed us from the curse in Genesis 3 which makes men the master and women the slaves. Christ has clothed us with honor and dignity and we can raise our heads for the Sun of Righteousness has shone on us. He paid the price for our freedom and delivered us from the curse of slavery that our encounter with Satan in Genesis 3 subjected us to.
Only in Christ Jesus, do we have true and absolutely freedom. Woman liberation movement offers freedom but it only partial.
John 10 vs. 10…. I am the Gate.
Anyone who goes through me will be cared for-will freely go in and out, and will find pasture. ……… I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.
Real life is in Christ Jesus, no other religion offers lasting solution without a price tag or negative self effects. Jesus calls you today, to believe in Him, trust Him, depend on him, for your background does not mean your back should be on the ground. Our Saviour is loving and kind, He will never consult your past to fashion your future. All His blessings are yours for free if you only believe in Him. He calls out to you in Matthew 11 vs. 28 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?
Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.
I’ll show you how to take a real rest.
Walk with me and work with me-watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep Company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly”.
